Some News to Report

James 1:27a

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this; to look after widows and orphans...

God has a plan for all of our lives, whether we realize it or not.
Over the last couple of years, we have been on a very interesting journey. If you are reading this, you have become part of our journey. Welcome!

In February, 2010 our church took a missions team to Uganda to build two classrooms for orphans who are now in the care of Watoto Child Care Ministry (check out their website www.watoto.com). While there, God gave us a passion for the country of Uganda and the beautiful people that live there. We came home from that trip as changed people and knew that we would never view life in the same way again.

As we settled back into our lives in Canada, our minds and thoughts frequently wandered across the ocean to think about our Ugandan friends. We took much more of an interest in the news for Uganda and often surfed the internet to see what was happening in "our other home".

When our church planned another building project for 2012, we knew that we would be going back to Uganda with that team. Prior to leaving on this trip, Greg began to pray that he would have an opportunity to use his skills as an electrician and refrigeration mechanic for God's glory in Uganda. While there, he made some connections and had the opportunity to work alongside some of the Ugandan workers doing maintenance in the organization. After much discussion and many prayers, Greg has accepted a position with Watoto Church in Kampala. He will be mentoring a young man named Albert who is currently the team leader for maintenance at the church campuses. Watoto Church has five campuses in Kampala where more than 20,000 people attend one of fifteen church services held each weekend.

Many people have asked what Lorenda's role will be in Uganda. That is yet to be determined. She is willing to do whatever God calls her to so that may include any number of tasks. Stay tuned for future posts as this part of the story unfolds!

We will be leaving Canada in February (flights to be arranged soon) and will be returning to Canada in December 2013. We are excited about this adventure that God is taking us on and we would love for you to be part of it. We need to have a team back here in Canada that is willing to support us as we take on this new and exciting challenge. We know that we are not capable, but the God we serve surely is.

Our highest priority is to develop a team of prayer warriors to lift us up daily. We know that prayer is the most powerful tool that we have and we want this to be the first team we get in place. Since this is a volunteer position, we are required to raise support to pay our expenses while we live there. We would also like to raise money to purchase good quality tools to be left in Uganda to assist the Ugandan team in effectively maintaining the church properties for years to come. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to be a part of the team that would provide prayer support and/or financial support.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read about the exciting journey God has been taking us on. If God is leading you to become one of our prayer partners, please let us know and we will send you regular updates as we prepare to go and while we are in Uganda.

If you wish to contribute financially, please make your cheque payable to Faith Baptist Church. DO NOT write anything on the memo line of the cheque, but do include a note on a separate piece of paper stating Selinger Watoto Mission.

Still in Canada

Hi Friends

Thanks for checking in with us.
We are still in Canada and are making some final preparations to (hopefully) head to Uganda soon.
We will keep you posted as we continue on this journey.
Thanks for journeying with us!
